Hitched Communities becomes a Real Living Wage Employer!
In September 2024, we at Hitched Communities proudly achieved a significant milestone by becoming a Real Living Wage employer. This commitment ensures that all employees are paid at or above the Real Living Wage level, marking a crucial step in our journey toward creating a fairer workplace that truly values its team. Truly something to be celebrated!
What is the Real Living Wage?
The Real Living Wage was first introduced in 2016 and is a voluntarily paid rate of pay that the Living Wage Foundation believes meets employees’ everyday needs. Aimed for adults aged over 18, with a specific London rating for those working in Greater and Central London, this rate is higher than the National Living Wage that the Government stipulates for all employers. The rate is calculated on what people need to get by; a ‘basket’ of goods and services is calculated covering essentials such as housing, rent and childcare with other common expenses such as school uniform and birthday presents. Evaluated regularly, it is updated yearly to reflect any increases in costs that may arise.
Why Should Others Join the Movement?
Becoming a Real Living Wage employer demonstrates a genuine commitment to your employees’ well-being, ensuring they earn enough to meet their basic needs. This initiative not only enhances your brand’s reputation, making it more attractive to potential employees and partners, but it also boosts morale, helps retain staff, and keeps you competitive in the job market.
Research from the Living Wage Foundation highlights the benefits of paying the Real Living Wage:
- 87% of employers reported an improved reputation.
- 66% felt it helped diVerentiate their business.
- 62% noted enhanced recruitment efforts.
At Hitched Communities, we believe in the importance of fair pay, and we hope you do too! Join us in making a difference—because when employees thrive, so does the entire community.
